Petroleum Ministry Encourages PNG Adoption Amid LPG Demand Surge
New Delhi – The Petroleum Ministry is urging approximately six million households near existing pipelines to switch to Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to alleviate pressure on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) supplies.
- PNG Advantage: PNG offers a convenient, assured supply compared to LPG cylinders.
- Existing Infrastructure: India currently has 15 million PNG consumers.
- Increased LPG Output: Government measures have increased domestic LPG output by 30%.
- Avoid Panic: Consumers are advised against panic booking of LPG cylinders, as supplies are stable.
This move aims to streamline fuel distribution amid global supply concerns exacerbated by tensions in West Asia.
