Jaipur: District Consumer Commission, Pratham has imposed a penalty of Rs 6500 on Shoppers Stop for charging the patron for carrying an marketed carry bag. Along with this, the Commission has requested to return the quantity of Rs 9 collected for the carry bag together with curiosity. Commission Chairman Sube Singh Yadav and member Neelam Sharma gave this order on the grievance of Jaswant Sharma.
In the grievance, advocate Rajkumar Tongawat mentioned that the complainant had gone to Shoppers Stop to purchase garments on June 16, 2019. Where he purchased garments and paid a invoice of Rs 5111. During this he got here to know that the shopkeeper had added Rs 9 for the carry bag to the invoice. Whereas there was an commercial of Shoppers Stop on that bag. On this, the complainant requested for Rs 9 again citing not taking the bag, however the shopkeeper refused to provide the cash. It was mentioned within the grievance that amassing the quantity of carry bag from the complainant falls within the class of service defect. In such a scenario, he needs to be given compensation within the type of psychological anguish.

In response to this, advocate Alok Jain on behalf of the vendor mentioned that through the buy the complainant had requested for a carry bag and his worker had advised that as per the corporate’s coverage the bag shouldn’t be given free. After figuring out about this, the complainant voluntarily took the bag by paying the quantity for the carry bag. In such a scenario, there was no service defect on the a part of the vendor. Therefore the grievance needs to be dismissed. After listening to the arguments of each the events, the Commission accepted that it’s improper to cost the patron for the carry bag. Along with this, the court docket has imposed damages on the shopkeeper.
