Russian Soldiers Allege Executions of Deserters by Commanders

Two Russian soldiers have come forward with allegations of brutality within their ranks in Ukraine. Speaking to the BBC from an undisclosed location, the men detailed witnessing executions of soldiers for refusing orders.

  • The soldiers, identified as Ilya and Dima, claim commanders shot fleeing soldiers at point-blank range, a practice referred to as “Zeroing.”
  • Ilya stated he witnessed four such executions. Dima described the killings as a common occurrence.
  • The Russian government maintains its forces operate with “utmost restraint,” investigating alleged violations. Verification of these specific claims remains pending.
