Sugar Export Ban Implemented Amidst Supply Problems
New Delhi– The Directorate General of Foreign Profession (DGFT) has provided a prompt ban on the export of raw, white, and refined sugar, efficient till September 30 th.
- Reason: Rising cost of living and potential supply scarcities worsened by the ongoing dispute in West Asia.
- Exemptions: Exports to the EU and the United States under special quotas, advance authorization schemes, and government-to-government exports.
- Production: Sugar manufacturing for the 2025 – 26 season is approximated at 27 5 million tonnes.
- Precautionary Procedure: The ban intends to make sure appropriate residential sugar materials in the middle of uncertainties concerning future manufacturing and fertilizer schedule.
