Lost Lake Resurfaces on Old Maps, Sparking Revival Hopes
A historical lake, nearly two miles long, has been identified on 19th and 20th century maps of North Delhi by the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (Intach).
- The lake spanned areas now known as Qadipur and Nagli-Puna.
- Intach has appealed to the Delhi Lieutenant Governor and DDA to revive a 10-acre depression still visible via satellite.
- A 24-hectare biodiversity park could be created on available public land, according to Intach.
- Local residents confirm a persistent waterlogged area exists, despite extensive construction.
