West Bengal Bolsters Security Ahead of Voter List Release
Kolkata – Security has been heightened across West Bengal as the Election Commission of India (ECI) prepares to release the final electoral roll as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
- CAPF Deployment: 240 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed.
- Final List Deadline: The ECI’s deadline for the final voter list is Saturday, February 28th.
- Supplementary Lists: The Supreme Court has directed the ECI to continue publishing supplementary voter lists even after February 28th.
- Article 142 Invoked: The Supreme Court invoked Article 142 to ensure no eligible voter is disenfranchised.
