Delhi-NCR May Mandate Electric Cars by 2030

New Delhi – An expert panel advising the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) is likely to recommend that only electric cars be registered in Delhi-NCR by 2030, sparking concern among city gas distributors and automakers.

• Pollution Source: Transport accounts for 23% of PM 2.5 concentrations in the region.
• Gas Distributors’ Concerns: Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) and the Association of Citygas Distribution Entities (ACE) advocate for a “dual pathway” including CNG vehicles, citing cost-effectiveness and scalability.
