New Delhi: Approximately 400,000 metric tonnes of Indian basmati rice are currently stalled at ports and in transit due to escalating tensions in the Gulf region, the All India Rice Exporters’ Association (AIREA) reported.

  • Payment Uncertainty: Exporters fear potential losses amid regional instability.
  • Government Response: The Commerce Ministry has formed an Inter-Ministerial Group to monitor and mitigate the impact on exports and imports.
