Telangana IPS Officer Instrumental in Maoist Surrender
Hyderabad – IPS officer B. Sumathi, heading the Telangana Police Special Intelligence Branch (SIB), played a crucial role in the recent surrender of top Maoist leaders, including commander Thippiri Tirupati alias Devuji.
Key Facts:
- Devuji, a Central Committee member, surrendered with other senior cadres.
- DGP B. Shivadhar Reddy lauded Sumathi and the SIB team’s efforts in persuading the ultras to rejoin mainstream society.
- Sumathi has overseen the surrender of 591 Maoist leaders in the past two years.
- The SIB team convinced the ultras that surrender would make them “zeroes”.
