Mumbai Gets New Mayor: Mahayuti Announces Candidates
Mumbai, India – The Mahayuti alliance has officially nominated Ritu Tawde from the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) as its candidate for Mayor of Mumbai, ending weeks of speculation. Sanjay Shankar Ghadi from Shiv Sena has been nominated for Deputy Mayor.

- BMC Elections: Held January 15th in Maharashtra.
- Seat Count: BJP secured 89 seats, Shiv Sena 29.
- Mayoral Eligibility: Lottery determined the post to be reserved for a woman from the General category.
*Other cities like Pune, Dhule, Nanded-Waghala and Navi Mumbai also got women mayors from the general category.
